Revision treatment

Case 1

This patient previously underwent extensive implant treatment overseas, where multiple implants were placed to replace most of her upper teeth. Unfortunately, all of those implants failed, leaving her with significant bone loss in the upper jaw. She has since been successfully treated with four zygoma implants and has received a new fixed set of upper teeth

The Challenges of Revision Treatment

Revision implant treatment is often more complex than the initial procedure due to:

  • Existing infection at the site.
  • Bone loss around failed implants.
  • Further bone loss that may occur during implant removal.

These challenges mean that revision surgery frequently requires:

  • Remote anchorage implants (such as zygoma, pterygoid, trans-nasal, trans-sinus implants) in full arch cases.
  • Bone and/or soft tissue grafting in partial arch cases to rebuild support for future implants.

Case 2

This patient had undergone full-mouth implant rehabilitation in both the upper and lower jaw not long before being referred to me. The upper implant treatment had a complication during surgery and was only partially successful, leaving the case in need of further management. I removed one failed implant and replaced it with a trans-nasal implant, and I also placed two additional pterygoid implants to provide stronger support at the back. She subsequently received a new fixed upper prosthesis supported by six successful dental implants.

After a really traumatic experience with another surgeon, I was nervous about trying again. But meeting Dr. Choi, the anaesthetist, and the entire after-care team completely changed everything. They were calm, supportive, and explained every step in a way that made me feel safe.

They fixed the complications I’d been struggling with and helped me feel comfortable and confident again. My implants look and feel amazing now, and the care I received—from surgery to after-care—was outstanding.

I’m so grateful to have found a team I can finally trust.

Dr Han Choi and his team showed outstanding kindness and professionalism throughout my treatment. I have long suffered from severe dental anxiety, but their empathy and support made a complex procedure possible for me. I underwent highly complex full mouth zygomatic implant surgery, and the results were excellent, with smooth healing and minimal bruising. Having had a previous traumatic full mouth implant experience in Turkey, I can honestly say the care and expertise I received here were incomparable. I highly recommend Dr Choi and his team for anyone seeking exceptional dental care.
